14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Back in January 2011 Miss Nebraska, Teresa Scanlan, was crowned Miss America. Her beauty, talent and intelligence formed the perfect God-given hat trick. I find it amazing that a seventeen year old could possess the maturity to wear the crown. I was so proud of my “home girl.” I’ve kept the World Herald’s article about her gowns being exhibited at the Nebraska History Museum in Lincoln. I want to go see this collection and appreciate her accomplishments. And I’ll confess…back when I was much younger I thought about how cool it would be to wear the crown of Miss America. Maybe you did too.
Miss America chooses a platform to advocate during her year long reign. Her royal position gives her the opportunity to address publicly throughout the USA a social concern with passion and fervor.
Reminds me of Esther…..a royal position…the opportunity to address a social concern…however, Miss America’s life is never on the line. Esther knows her uninvited presence before the king jeopardizes her existence, yet she chooses to follow her cousin Mordecai’s instructions. Talk about BIG-time trust in God. Her God-given beauty has placed her in a position to deliver relief for her fellow countrymen. She delivers BIG-time.
Now, what about you and me? Who knows but that you have come to your…position for such a time as this? One doesn’t have to be a beauty queen to be a Christian that talks the talk and walks the walk. One doesn’t need a nationwide platform to exhibit love for our God. Everyday actions can speak volumes.
