Mary Christmas in July!

Luke 2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17And when they had seen [it], they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18And all they that heard [it] wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19But Mary kept all these things, and pondered [them] in her heart.

Imagine you’re a teenager finally reaching your travel destination after riding on a donkey with your fiancée walking beside you who may have questions about the conception of your unborn child. You’re tired; you’re weary; you’re scared; you’re excited. Then lo and behold, you experience childbirth in a stable. You’re now Mom to the Son of God. Whatever could you have to ponder?

You’re not that teenager; you’re a blog reader in 2014.

What are you pondering?

Job no fun? What job? Kids driving you crazy? Heart ache?
Too cold/hot/windy? What’s for supper? Marital strife? Food intake?
Health test results? Car repairs? Family struggles? Relocating?
Retirement concerns? Bills? *Fill in your blank_________________

Whatever is occupying your mind, share your concerns with your Heavenly Father. Focus on the words within “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Consider the quotes following the hymn.
1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
